Canonical does not point to a redirect

What the check finds

The canonical points at a redirect rather than a final URL, which leaves the intended target ambiguous.

Why it matters for AI answers

A canonical that points at a redirect sends mixed signals about which URL is the real one. Search engines may pick a different URL than intended.

How to fix it

  1. Set rel="canonical" to the final URL that the redirect lands on.
  2. Make sure the canonical target returns 200 with no further redirect.
  3. Keep canonicals, internal links and sitemap entries on the same final URL.
