How to analyze competitors’ AI ads
Compare competitor messages, offers, prompt context, and placement evidence, then turn recurring patterns into a focused response.
Start with relevant competitors, not just the largest count
Use Competitor ads to identify brands appearing in the decisions your buyers face. Review the supporting prompt and ad evidence available in your workspace. Compare the same platform, market, and period before ranking competitors.
An observation count measures activity in the tracked sample. It is not proof that a brand spends more, reaches more people, or has the best-performing campaign.
Build a message comparison
- Advertiser and product: who is paying for the placement and what is offered?
- Customer need: what question, constraint, or decision is the ad addressing?
- Promise and evidence: what benefit is claimed, and can the destination substantiate it?
- Offer and next step: what does the user see or get after following the ad?
- Placement and recurrence: where was it observed, and does the same message recur under comparable conditions?
Do not infer private strategy from public evidence
The same visible message could be used across many campaigns. A single prompt association does not disclose the targeting configuration, and ad text does not establish spend or conversion performance. Record direct observations separately from your interpretation.
If you inspect a landing page, record the destination and review date. A changed destination or offer can make older observations unsuitable for a current comparison.
Worked example: respond to the customer need
Illustrative example: a carry-on competitor emphasizes low weight. Rather than copying its slogan, check whether your own product page explains weight, dimensions, airline restrictions, and evidence behind durability claims. If it does not, create a brief to fix those gaps.
The resulting action can support paid landing-page relevance and organic usefulness, but each outcome needs separate measurement. Do not claim a competitor campaign succeeded merely because its message appeared.
