Missing or changing AI advertising results
Investigate missing ads, changing counts, and differences between your own view and GeckoCheck without treating missing data as zero.
First identify what is missing
Distinguish a missing feature, an unavailable observation, and a successful observation with no ad. These need different explanations. Confirm your workspace’s enabled platforms and markets before interpreting the result.
If AI-advertising views are not available in your workspace, contact support to confirm access and coverage. This guide does not assume a specific plan entitlement, activation switch, or data refresh frequency.
Why your own view may differ
Ads can depend on region, account eligibility, context, time, and personalization. A personal session does not necessarily match the conditions behind a tracked observation. OpenAI documents ad-free experiences and other eligibility conditions; check current provider guidance.
Do not use a model’s written answer to “which ads did you show?” as proof of the visible ad unit. OpenAI says ChatGPT does not see ads by default unless the user explicitly shares one through the relevant feature.
Why counts can change
- Coverage: a different prompt set, platform, market, or time window may have been included.
- Delivery: relevance, eligibility, advertiser activity, and available inventory can vary.
- Observation: failed or unavailable readings can change sample size.
- Counting: repeated occurrences and distinct creatives are different units; verify what the report counts.
What to send support
Include the workspace, affected platform and market, reporting period, exact prompt where available, and the result you expected versus what you saw. Add the report or observation reference if available. Remove personal chat content or sensitive customer information from any evidence you share.
Ask for the unit, comparison baseline, coverage, or missing-data interpretation if those are unclear. Until clarified, label the result unknown instead of inventing a value or concluding that a competitor stopped advertising.
