Character-encoding meta tag present

What the check finds

No character-encoding meta tag. Most servers declare the encoding in the HTTP header, which is what actually takes effect.

Why it matters for AI answers

Without a declared encoding, text can be decoded wrongly and accented or non-Latin characters can turn into garbled symbols. Most servers send it in the HTTP header, so the impact is usually small.

How to fix it

  1. Add <meta charset="utf-8"> as the first element inside <head>.
  2. Make sure the server sends Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8 to match.
  3. Save the page files in UTF-8.
